DJ & Music Production Institute has partnered with the University Of West London College of examinations and are delighted to offer a brand new range of graded exams for DJs in South Africa in association with Future DJ's.

With our highly skilled DJ tutors teaching you in 1 on 1 environment, which will prepare you to take the new forward-thinking exams.

Having honed your skills to become a competent DJ and creative mixer, the performance ability expected at Breakthrough level is of a more demanding nature. You will be able to demonstrate beat matching tracks of similar tempo by ear and inventiveness is an increasingly important element of the assessment.

Rekordbox DJ
Learning to identify; Samples, Genres, Instruments  
Cue points and Hot cues
Vinyl mode
Catching and slowing advanced method
Genre change mixing technique
Advanced mixing with EQ
Spinback / Filter / Looping
Scratching and beat juggling techniques
Practice sessions
Improvised routine
Aural exam preparation 
Final mix
Online exam 

Duration:
12 x 2Hr sessions
1 on 1 Classes
*Lessons are completed in your own time (3 Month limit)
 

Exams:
These exams will only be conducted at specialist exam centers (Sandton). Exams are hosted every 3 months and marked by the University Of West London Examiners via an online setup.

Breakthrough
In addition to the requirements for Debut level, candidates may be asked to:
• identify various methods of music management and be able to describe the system they use
•demonstrate knowledge of the main equipment functions and be able to describe the order of signal flow through the basic functions on a standard DJ mixer
•discuss their approach to preparing their mix and to identify any difficulties (musical or technical) which were encountered
• discuss any specialist techniques used in their prepared mix
